Inspire Therapy:
A Breakthrough in Sleep Apnea Treatment
Inspire® Upper Airway Stimulation is an FDA-approved implantable device to treat obstructive sleep apnea.

Key Facts:
-
Indications: Adults aged 18 and older with an Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) between 15 and 100, who have not benefited from CPAP therapy.
-
Mechanism: The device delivers gentle stimulation to the hypoglossal nerve, which controls tongue and airway muscles, keeping the airway open during sleep.
-
Procedure: The implant is placed under the skin during a minimally invasive outpatient procedure lasting 2–3 hours. Most patients can go home the same day.

How Inspire Works
Step by Step

-
Turn it on with your remote: Each night before bed, you use a small handheld remote to activate the system.
-
Fall asleep comfortably: Inspire has a built-in delay, giving you time to fall asleep before therapy starts.
-
Gentle stimulation begins: Once you’re asleep, Inspire sends mild pulses to the hypoglossal nerve, moving your tongue and airway muscles to keep your airway open.
-
Breathe naturally all night: The stimulation works with your natural breathing rhythm, preventing airway collapse.
-
Turn it off in the morning: Simply use the same remote to power off the device when you wake up.
